A Proposal for Oregon Republican Party Leadership

By: Perry Atkinson, former ORP Chair, Bob Tiernan, former ORP Chair, Suzanne Gallagher, former ORP Chair, Art Robinson, former ORP Chair, Denny Smith, former Oregon US Congressman

Grassroots Oregon Republicans do not like the political situation and trends in Oregon. In fact, the majority of grassroots Oregonians – Republicans, Democrats, Constitutionalists, Libertarians, Independents, and unaligned – are worried about the counterproductive political direction of our state. It is the responsibility of the Oregon Republican Party to change this direction.

Our state is starving for leadership that puts families and businesses first. It is time to elect leadership that supports our platform of ideas and policies that work. No longer can we afford advancing leaders who do not support our platform and do support candidates that run against our platform.

The ORP job is simple: Raise money for candidates that support our platform, elect platform Republicans, and increase Republican voter registration.

The answers to Oregon’s future – its families, its growth, its healthy businesses and economy – have already been laid out in the Republican platform. Let’s elect candidates who stand on those principles and pass legislation that supports hard working people and the enterprises in which they work.

From Ronald Reagan, October 22, 1981: “Individual farmers, laborers, business owners, trades and managers – they are the heart and soul of development. Trust them, because whenever they are allowed to create and build, wherever they are given personal stake in deciding economic policies and benefiting from their success, then societies become more dynamic, prosperous, progressive and free.”

We must ask ourselves:

How much money was raised in this past election cycle and given to candidates?

How many Republican seats did we gain in the legislature, counties, and cities?

How much did we increase Republican voter registration?

How much was the ORP supported by the RNC, and was it used to elect real Republicans?

Why did we run a candidate for governor who openly rejected much of our platform?

It is time for a change to leadership that is effective and that understands our values.

The conservative revolution has begun across America. It is time to turn Oregon Red because Republicanism is the answer to the runaway liberal socialist agenda now governing our state.

When our businesses grow and our families grow and thrive, our culture wins.

Oregon is already great. Let’s build upon that and do what is right for our children’s future!

There is an old saying ..” insanity is defined by doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Its time to stop doing the same thing over and over again and vote for a change to party leadership committed to the proven ideals set forth in our party’s platform.

We are Oregonians, we are Republicans …. we are family. Lets do the RIGHT thing and elect Republican Platform leaders this coming organizational meeting.
