What the political pundits get wrong
What the political pundits get wrong is the assumption that all voters in a political party vote a straight ticket, ignoring the phenomenon of Donald Trump. Knute Buehler finally saw the light this time around. (It’s too late for him in the Second Congressional District though. He’s now seen as a duplicitous flip-flopper who’s only prayer is that conservative candidate opponents split the conservative vote).
If we have truly courageous, non-equivocating Trump-supporting candidates, those candidates will pick up nearly 100% of the Republican base, a majority of Independents and unaffiliated, and a good chunk of Democrats, perhaps 15%. THAT is a winning strategy. Of course The Bulletin is uber-Left wing, and will never acknowledge this. And our typical conservative candidates have been intimidated into thinking President Trump is a liability.
Am I the only one to see this?
It’s mind-boggling to watch political commentators assume Oregon voters hate Donald Trump! Our voters are not so different from the rest of the country, and they are not stupid. It’s our candidates who have had the problem, offering the same old lean-left protocol..
With the economy and everything else getting so much better, I don’t know how to characterize Oregon candidates’ move-away-from-Donald Trump strategy as anything but cowardly…and in ignorance of the on-the-ground facts..
Elsewhere in the country, in November, watch the Trump landslide happen. Let’s see if our Oregoni candidates have stood up tall to take part in it.

Other good news for Oregon Republicans
Thanks to Debbie Lee for passing this on. This piece is from the left wing Willamette Week
Our take? Kim Thatcher WILL be our next Secretary of State. Other good news for Oregon Republicans in the immediate pipeline, too. Stand by…
A lack of candidates
Yet again, here is the mechanical truth: Oregon is blue because of a lack of candidates. It’s not our voters!
If we voters have no one to vote for, how can we win power?
Oregon Republican Party leadership should be focused on finding candidates within Oregon, not going on and on about Nancy Pelosi, Hunter Biden, reposting RNC generic advertising and/or pursuing seriously stupid recall-Kate-Brown efforts that distract our base from what really matters: winning elections.
Will the real Knute Buehler please stand up?
Will the real Knute Buehler please stand up?
(See the Facebook post I put up this morning. It more completely spells out my stance regarding Buehler’s leftist history.)
“In (a recent) AP interview, Buehler described why he’s a Trump fan.”
“‘We have record low unemployment, record high stock market. I think people appreciate their 401k statements. We have the fewest illegal border crossings that we’ve seen in years. We have renegotiation of trade deals, which was a promise he made,’ Buehler said.”
“He described himself as an ‘independent-minded Republican’ and takes some stances that Trump’s base might oppose, such as supporting abortion rights and a path for legal status for immigrants who are in the country illegally.”
“James Foster, professor emeritus of political science at Oregon State University-Cascades in Bend, said Buehler is playing to the electorate before the May 19 GOP primary.”
“His best strategy is to run to the right and become an acolyte for Donald Trump for the primary, put the primary behind him and the nomination is in his pocket, and then attempt to say, ‘Well, in fact, I am much more moderate than I may have appeared during the primary race,’ Foster said.”

To our ORP LEADERSHIP: Do your job! WE NEED CANDIDATES! Your responsibility to find candidates is stated in the first line at the very beginning of theORP Bylaws: “To elect Republicans, who promote the platform of the Oregon Republican Party, to public office, To insure growth of the Republican Party, through voter registration and volunteer force, to make the Oregon Republican Party the number one national party in Oregon, To lead, contribute, and participate in the establishment of a Republican Party organization that is an effective vehicle for setting public policy through its platform, To coordinate, encourage, and assist county growth through the County central committees, To plan, organize, administer, and finance the State Central Committee’s operations to accomplish the other stated purposes.”
If working to find candidate is not your job then say so, and then tell us what your purpose actually is.
Good grief…

I’m Running for ORP National Committeeman
Updated, Thursday evening February 5th, 8:00PM
I’m entering the March 21st Oregon Republican Party National Committeeman election. We are just past the deadline for filing for the race and it seems there is at least one other candidate who has jumped in to challenge our current Committeeman. I believe the state ORP will make the announcement of candidates tomorrow, February 6th. In any case, the Committeeman position is key to our Oregon Republican Party’s effectiveness and our current Committeeman, Solomon Yue, must be challenged.
If a better challenging candidate appears, I may step aside to support that candidate. (I’m fine on a committee, but way better as a CEO.)
Those of you who follow our MOGA2020 blog (we’re close to 100,000 strong now), understand my concerns about current ORP Executive Committee performance. Here is a summary post of those concerns.
Without equivocation, our state-level ORP leadership must become 100% aligned with President Donald Trump’s vision of America. It’s time for Oregon to break free from its legacy of elitist Democrat progressive domination and Republican submission.
Our current Committeeman, Solomon Yue, has been the undermining force in ORP leadership for the last two decades, twenty years that have seen Oregon Republican political presence steadily decline into insignificance.
Coincidence?
Not one of us has failed to see the steady erosion of Republican political power in Salem and at all political levels throughout the state. Think about that powerlessness, and then consider the ORP mission statement. Here it is, taken word-for-word from ORP Bylaws: “The purpose of the State Central Committee shall be to elect Republicans, who promote the platform of the Oregon Republican Party, to public office. To insure growth of the Republican Party through voter registration and volunteer force, to make the Oregon Republican Party the number one national party in Oregon, to lead, contribute, and participate in the establishment of a Republican Party organization that is an effective vehicle for setting public policy through its platform; to coordinate, encourage, and assist county growth through the County central committees, to plan, organize, administer, and finance the State Central Committee’s operations to accomplish the other stated purposes.”
Has the current top state OPR leadership met any of the above goals?
Not by a long shot.
Do we really want the ORP to continue down this clearly-defined path of defeat?
You tell me.
Without question, we need a fresh new direction in Oregon Republican Party leadership TODAY. Let’s make it happen! In the next weeks, Diana and I look forward to traveling the state to chat with as many Delegates and Alternate Delegates as possible.
Let’s connect. You can reach me at samc@makeoregongretagain.com.
We’ll come to you.

Rush Limbaugh
With this, can we FINALLY agree to FIGHT these ruthless Leftist SOB’s?
No more reasoning. No more pleading. No more equivocation. In Oregon, without a shred of remorse, let’s take them down. We’ll hammer them back on November 3rd, and then we’ll finish it up two years later in November 2022. We WILL have our Oregon Red Trifecta.
